Afternoon Visit to Sauternes

Sauternes is a beautiful grape growing region of France, located south-east of Bordeaux City. If you do make the hour long journey from Bordeaux City you will find vineyard-lined, winding roads, cows grazing, large mature trees and majestic chateaux perched on top of rolling hills. The region produces distinctively sweet wines made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties and is home to many of the world's most famous chateaux such as Chateau d'Yquem. Below you will find a number of photos highlighting a recent sunny afternoon visit to this great appellation.
